Experimental Cloud Shadows

On this morning before sunrise the three large clouds sitting on the horizon where creating dark shadow on the sea. The colours before sunrise are so beautiful, much more spectacular than when the sun has risen. I love painting the sunrise it watercolours and using wood panels instead of paper has brought a whole new dimension to the paintings. In this painting I have experimented with a Liquid Glass glaze which crazed while drying.

I live by the sea and wake early to go out and see the sunrise. The sky is best before the sunrises, if there are clouds then the light reflects off them in many colours and the sea is dark in some areas. 

The variety and beauty of the pre-sunrise morning is glorious and abundant.
