Making a big watercolour like this comes from my soul and my gut. It’s very physical and takes a lot of energy. Like a performance, everything goes into the act of making the work.

The new cultural wave we are just beginning to ride is exciting partly because we don’t know where we are going.

I swim in the sea in Deal, Kent, where I live. One morning the sunrise was red and so stunning it inspired several paintings. It was amazing to swim with such a beautiful view.
